What is Manual Lymph Drainage?
This specialised massage is safe and effective for addressing major health concerns. It is an excellent way for assisting in treating most cancers and serious illnesses. Lymphatic drainage massage is an intense specialised technique to increase lymph flow, detoxify the body for better health, immunity, weight loss, and remove excess fluid.
In MLD (Manual Lymph Drainage – Dr E Vodder) we use gentle/light, rhythmical, exact hand movements, pressures, and sequences. The massage works at a skin level to influence the direction and speed of lymphatic flow, redirecting if necessary.
There have been various new studies showing the significant speed recovery when pre- and post-surgery manual lymph drainage is administered.
MLD is a powerful detoxifier and is in huge demand due to the toxic overloads in our modern-day lifestyles.
How It Works:
The lymphatic system is essential for maintaining a healthy immune response and fluid balance. Unlike the circulatory system, lymph doesn't have a pump and relies on movement and massage to flow properly.
MLD works by:
Stimulating lymph vessels under the skin
Enhancing the drainage of stagnant fluid
Reducing inflammation and swelling (especially post-surgery or injury)
Supporting the immune system and natural detox process
Techniques Used & How It Feels
MLD uses precise, rhythmic, and very light strokes, usually in circular or sweeping motions. The technique follows the lymph flow and targets specific areas to redirect fluid toward functioning lymph nodes.
What it feels like:
Extremely gentle, soothing, and calming. It is not a deep tissue massage. Many clients describe it as deeply relaxing, and some even fall asleep during the session.
